One of the best sites concerning optical illusions.
And a great work!

Wyard (below) puts it nicely - 'informed explanation of the effect'. Plus, we get references to consult. A splendid site, well worth the visit.
Snake Illusion ad lib works well with both eyes, but I see little effect, if any, with just one eye open. Now I want to revisit all and test this binocular notion of mine ...

Thank you so much for the Spiral AfterEffect. I've never experienced such a strong visual aftereffect. After staring at the spiral, it looked like everything in my room was boiling slowly. So cool!

I found the Darwin Illusion very hard to see. Indeed, I could not see it until I realised who the face was supposed to be (from the title). More powerful for me was a general outline of an embryo-like shape. I normally have trouble recognising individual's faces. With this sort of illusion, it may be interesting to see how readily different individuals perceive the face - especially if there was a deliberate alternate image present, essentially combining an ambiguous figure with the fine details masking effect.

I am fascinated by all types of optical illusion, and his is the best one-stop source I've ever come across - and what's so great, and missing from most other sources, is an actual informed explanation of the effect. Can't get enough of these! Thanks!

Wow, what a great site! Some of the illusions, particularly the "motion-induced blindness" one, were absolutely mind-boggling! I had a blast taking the complete tour. (I'm still seeing spots, ha ha, but it was worth it!)

I love this site, thanks much! A comment on the snake illusion - I have 20/200 vision in both eyes without glasses. When I wear my glasses the illusion works as expected, but if I take off my glasses the illusion does not work even when I am close enough to the screen to see the image clearly (I cannot see far away). Anyway, love and appreciate the site.
